Longhorns make slight move up AP Top 25, await CFP rankings release Tuesday
The Longhorns moved up two spots to No. 14, and the loss dropped the Aggies out of the top five, down four spots to No. 7. Texas could have used some chaos above them in the poll to help strengthen its case for the College Football Playoff, but other than the Aggies, the only team ranked ahead of the Longhorns to lose was Michigan. The Wolverines lost to top-ranked Ohio State 27-9.

Instant Analysis: Do the Texas Longhorns belong in the CFP field after win vs. Texas A&M?
Texas head coach Steve Sarkisian certainly thinks so, and why wouldn't he? The Longhorns are the first team since the 2019 Louisiana State Tigers to beat three top-10 teams during the regular season, and they played Ohio State to a 1-score game on the road to open the season. The Florida hiccup could stick out in some committee members' minds, but then again, Notre Dame played for the national title last year and lost to Northern Illinois at home.
